BAU CHINA - The leading trade fair in the Asia-Pacific region for "Building Systems Solutions, High-End Technologies and Materials" was held from August 3 to 6, 2023.

Like at BAU in Munich, industry professionals involved for planning, architectural design and building process came together at BAU CHINA 2023. The portfolio of BAU CHINA is widely recognised for providing the stages in which building system solutions, technology applications and materials can showcase, connect with each other and prosper.

"Despite the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are very satisfied with the results of BAU CHINA", reports Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, CEO of Messe München. "With an exhibition area of 54,000 net-square meters (115,000 square meters gross) and over 56,000 visitors, the output is outstanding and exhibitors have highly recognised the result of BAU CHINA. It also shows that BAU CHINA is becoming increasingly important for the construction and architecture industry - it is the market place for the future and innovation.“

Impulses for the building of tomorrow

To lead architectural trends in Asia, China Architectural Design Expo (CADE) plays a key role under BAU CHINA, which serving architects in order to achieve the integration of architecture, art and technology, as well as to inspire the future trends and innovations.

This year, the central theme of the exhibition was "One Earth Sustainable Tomorrow", over 11 themed zones were curated with joint efforts of leading architectural design and consulting organisations. There were more than 23 conference parts at CADE and BAU Congress China (BCC) focused on "Architecture and Urban Planning in the 21st Century".

New event: RealTech Summit

Together with the China Real Estate Chamber of Commerce, RealTech Summit engaged with leading real estate developers, which made the new event one of the most eye-catching program onsite. The summit was jointly organised by CRECC and MMU to explore the new pattern of real estate development in China. Over 20 influential speakers from the industry attended and spoke at the summit, 1,004 attendees showed up.

Also newly launched in 2023, Building+ CEO Talk organised by FENESTRATION BAU CHINA attracted 100 attendees from top management to participate. The event was planned to bridge information gap of the top-level thinking across the building industry chain and focused on the discussion of "successful paradigm" of prominent entrepreneurs, profoundly influencing cross-over philosophical thinking and promoting the prospective strategic thinking of senior managers.

New cooperation with the Roofing and Waterproofing Association of China

Since the event's premiere as FENESTRATION BAU CHINA, segments have been consistently integrated in a similar way to BAU in Munich. This further development and the new variety of topics is illustrated by the renaming of the event into BAU China and FENESTRATION BAU CHINA has been integrated as an exhibition area. The new segments now including Architecture Solutions/CADE, prefabrication, Flooring, Roofing and Waterproofing, etc. A further step in the expansion of this segment is the new cooperation with the Roofing and Waterproofing Association of China. Emily Zhang (CEO of MMU Fenestration Co. Ltd.) explains: "We are pleased to be able to offer our visitors further added value with this cooperation as the China Roofing & Waterproofing Expo was held in co-location with BAU CHINA".

BAU CHINA in figures

More than 56,000 visitors from 70 countries attended BAU CHINA. 773 exhibitors (2019: 778) came from 12 countries. Top exhibiting countries besides China were (in this order): Germany, Italy, Japan. Fenestration Days China was attended by 700 visitors.

The next BAU CHINA will take place from October 16 to 19, 2024 in Shanghai.
